Save Nanda Road

Hi
any one off u guys must have used this road to reach silk board junction or beyond.
This one stretch of road about a 2 kms in length is one of greenest of roads in Bangalore filled with Huge trees. I usually use this road to move from South end circle to 100feet road which connects to silk board junction.

Now there is a news that this road comes under the road widening plan for BBMP Bangalore.
So we may not see the trees in the near future.

So come, save the road from BBMP. There are some serious people who are working on the same in the below link to plan & execute the future decisions about how to avoid the road widening on this road.

I am also one of that serious people.

Cycle Ride to Kaggalipura/Bannergatta Circle & Back

Its was a nice biking, we were about nine in the team (Rohan, Balu, Gaurav,Shashi) & (I, Sreeharsha,2 Raghus (One Doctor & one from TOI) ,Shasank). We were out beaten by the biathlon guys who were no where to be seen.

So We five had to continue on trail of Biathlon guys.Sree & myself decided to go to Yogavana hills,About 8 kms from Kaggalipura after a Tea break & thought of catching up remaining 3 at the Bannergatta Deviation on Kanakapura Road while returning.
But our plans of going to Hills was shortlived, as there was a problem with Sree's Cycle, which we could not repair. So we waited for transportion, got a TATA pickup truck(ACE) and rode back to Kaggalipura. We Just waited for the cycle repair guy,got the repairs done & continued on route. The guy(Raghu) from TOI (Times of India) was really struggling to catch with us.Sree & myself had almost got separated from these 3 guys.

we had a small break for a breakfast, had Hot Uppitu(uppama) and moved on.We could find out about 2 gradients which were covered easily. From there the road till Bannergatta circle was almost flat & full of potholes which made my TREK to check for it sustainability & made me think about "the Value for Money aspect". We (Sreeharsha & I) reached Bannergatta Circle at around 9.30. Waited for the other 3 Guys, had a cup of Tea, Refilled our water Bottles and left for the Banashankari. We reached Bannergatta Road/Ring Road Junction at 11.30 where we deviated towards our Houses.

It Was a Nice ride overall

FULLY LOADED TREK 4300D

Just look at my MTB.
How do u feel about it?

I feel u are thinking about a Motocross bike.
Yes u R right, I just thought the same thing about this.

The fender costed around Rs400/ - which is quite worth than investing the money for a dry clean ;), a necessary for Rainy day where u can ride the bike with out fear of cloth being spoiled.

I just felt the front ones are working fine & there is need to adjust the back one a little upside.

Cons: The weight of ur Aluminium bike is increased by about 300 gms.

Ride to BIG BANYAN TREE

I start from my house(in rajajinagar 1st Block) sharp 5.30 after sending the sms to the oldman.I took almost 30mins as I had quite bit of problems with water bottle which was just poping out of the cage.

Finally reached the meeting point at Mysore Road / Ring Road Junction at 6.05 others came at 6.10.We all waited for ABHI for 5 more mins & started off as there was no response from ABHI. In between , my water bottle dropped of on the road.I just abandoned it & continued with my cycling.

It was the worst selection for my first ride as the traffic was heavy and dangerous. We did mysore road easilly till a right turn for the Dodda alada mara Road. Then there was a level crossing where we got some time to stop.

We had small breaks in between.Villagers were eagerly asking me about my stain on my back & front( which has not gone even after 2 washings). The road was really messy as it had rained heavily previous night & I was not having a fender on the TREK.

Even krik did have problems with that. But its all ok when you are burning calories.

TREK did respond to me very well on the mud road & braking. But had some chain slipping due to the EXCESSIVE mud splashed on the chain & gears. My SIGMA 1606L DTS was responding well & was showing 27Kms from home. I was overwhelmed by seeing that & decide to make more rides.

We reached the destination at around 8.45. Had Idlis , spent some time chatting for 30 minsbefore leaving the place. Just after 5kms down hill we had a small break for photo shoots, left after 15 mins.

This side of return back was the toughest as all were uphill. The climate was really hot,had got a cap which was very usefull. As we reached Jhnanabarathi,I was out of energy, stopped for sometime, shared an apple.
And proceeded further till the ring road junction, where OLD MAN took a deviation towards Banashankari.

WE KIRK & me, continued till my house, time was almost 11.15AM. he had some water & continue with his cycling to his house.

OLD MAN & KRIK were quite fit & I was the person who was slowing them down.Probably 2 more trips will reach me to them.Very Happy

Distance covered :54kms(from My house), KIRK(+3KMS),OLDMAN(-3kms)

Time taken : 3Hours ( 2 hours 59mins 14sec to be specfic)

Meet point was : Mysore road / ring road junction:

Team : Diwakar(OLD MAN), Karthik(krik) & me.
Abhi missed the ride.

Time of start : 6.15AM from the Junction

Average speed : 19kms / hr

Its almost a month, I have been blogging & cycling. Its quite nice to see me taking such an initiative in doing about the workouts. I usually take the route of Sankey Tank, Palace road, Mekri Circle, around Indian Institute of Science,Yeswantpur Circle & Dr.Rajkumar Road. The distance is around 10Kms and is filled with lots of greenery. So much of cool breeze & greenery such that I intend to continue to do the same route for some more time.

I do see lots of people do the cycling and do suggest people who looking into this blog should seriously think about cycling is the way to good health.

Visit to BOTS

The much awaited me cycling group has been initiated. Nitin & myself had a visit to BOTS on the bicycle. Its is great to to ride the same route which I used to ride to reach my college BMSCE on my HERO Ranger cycle.

Distance is about 11 Kms which we covered in 40 mins.We hade a quite nice time there with Nikil as Rohan was on a adventure cycling trip. While riding back NITIN (my cousin) had the chance and he did well for the first time. We were back in the house by 10.00.

The final result is NITIN is considering a purchase of bicycle at BOTS my be in a week or so.I even had a talk with my close buddy(Raghavendra) for purchase of a bicycle & about making a cycling team of ours.

Hope this initiated process comes good & we all be able to cycling together for longer duration.

TREK 4300D : Awesome Bike

Just got my bike yesterday(July 1st).

Had a 3 kms ride on it in the evening.People where Litterly staring at my bike. And to surprise, My Uncle took two rides on the same bike. But others were furious on me investing that amount on TREK(Which I Feel its worth)Its is great bicycle to ride especially for long distances. The gears are great.Disc brakes are fabulous.Need some more fine tunning of gears.Thats it.

The Last Thing I have to mention is

"Can experience the bike only by riding it & not by reading reviews." & " Love Passing those slow moving Cars in the traffic signal"

HURRAY, TREK ORDERED

Planning to buy a Bike

I Happened to meet some cycling enthusiasts, who also deal with Cycles sale in a very different way.

It was great to hear about these guys (Rohan & Nikil). They have a mission in hand "POPULARIZE CYCLING" in Bangalore. Yesterday I got the chance to meet these people, have a ride on their bikes. It was really good. They had quite a number of suggestions for the type of riding we do & type of the bicycle we need to use. Nice people to have a discussion abt the cycling. Some day or the other, I would like to get involved with them.

This is the bicycle I am PLANNING to Buy TREK 4300D.

My New Interest in Bicycling

SORRY GUYS (THESE ARE ALL NEW POSTINGS) ACCIDENTLY DELETED THE BLOG

I do remember those days, where my father used to teach us the cycling.I used to ride my father's cycle without even knowing how to get on & off of it.

When my parents where out to work and a holiday for us, we used get Cycles for rent for 50Paise/hour and go around city(Bhadravati) parks and used to have a blast.

we had n number of crashes & accident / n number of wounds on our body, which we did not mind.

This continued till I came to Bangalore for My High Schooling & also did get our Fathers bicycle to Bangalore & was using it to commute from our school, House, & Kamalama Gundi (Play ground in Mahalakshmi Layout) where we used to practice our volleyball.

Then that time my mother had promised me to get a good MTB cycle once i go into College for my 10+classes which she did. We then sold of our older cycle for 700Rs to one of our Friend (13years back which i dont know if it is existing or not). My mother was little upset due to this bcoz of the love & the attachment she had with it.

HERO MTB name tells it all(Multi terrain Bike) was used every where from roads, patholes roads, Playgrounds etc.I must have spent more than what the cycle costs in its life span of about 8years
but it has served me a lot.

We used to go to around Bangalore in Diploma for abt 3years, & we even had a cycling trip to Pearl Valley (Muthayalmadu) thru NCC.It was about 40Kms from our College (MEI Polytechnic) in Rajajinagar which was very hard for me but every well enjoyed it.

And after my Diploma college days , I used ride the cycle for first year in Engineering, from Rajajinagar 1st Block to Hanumanthanagar(BMS College of Engineering) that was really great.

After that for all three years I was rarely used the MTB as it was too strainfull.

But I do remember that in final year i had taken the cycle again to BMSCE for fun(but it was too hard for me) & while cuming back,we rode doubles with Ravikishore with the help of Deepak who had a Luna dragging us.

It was such a good momemt,so we remember that ride from college to house when we all meet.

Now its about 5years from there and me little fat, I have decided to start cycling, and probable buy a good bicycle in the near future and start riding it again.

Hope this new interest stays with me for more days to go.

Thanks for reading,
corrections are welcome.
